Antonio Conte opens up on what he told Tottenham Hotspur ace Son Heung-min before hat-trick heroics.

Tottenham Hotspur star Son Heung-min celebrates 100 caps for South Korea with spectacular goal

Tottenham Hotspur star Son Heung-min celebrated 100 caps for his country, as South Korea faced Chile in an international friendly on Monday evening. The Spurs superstar marked the landmark occasion with a spectacular goal.

The reigning Premier League golden-boot winner delivered in emphatic fashion yet again. Last month, the former Bayer Leverkusen star equalled Mohamed Salah’s tally of PL goals on gameweek 38 to share the prized individual award.

And now, he netted a picture-perfect freekick in stoppage time, from 20 yards out to seal a 2-0 win. Earlier in the game, Wolves’ Hee-chan Hwang scored a stunner in the 12th minute to put South Korea in front.

Son’s first cap for the Taegeuk Warriors goes back all the way to 2010 in a preparatory friendly against Syria ahead of the 2011 AFC Asian Cup.

Moving to White Hart Lane in the summer of 2015, Son has gone from strength to strength and made himself into one of the best players in the world in his position.

No one can stop Son right now

He has already represented South Korea at the 2014 and 2018 World Cups and will be leading his nation out for their third-consecutive WC appearance in Qatar this year. It is safe to say he is already an icon for his country.

Son also made headlines when he inspired the South Korean team to a gold medal at the 2018 Asian Games, which delayed his mandatory military service in the South Korean army until two years later, which he eventually completed with flying colours ahead of the 2019-20 season.

Over the course of his career, Son has transitioned from being the exciting upstart at Hamburg to now being widely regarded as one of the best Asian players of all time, and clearly, there is no feasible argument against that claim right now.

Needless to say, it has been quite the run for South Korea’s favourite son. With a century of appearances for his country, he has added another feather to his glorious cap and at 29, we can expect him to keep building on that number.
