Tottenham Hotspur are not interested in re-signing Gareth Bale.
According to The Telegraph’s Matt Law, Tottenham Hotspur have no plans to sign Wales captain and club icon Gareth Bale for a third spell in North London.
It’s been a good couple of weeks for the veteran who clinched yet another UEFA Champions League title with Real Madrid last month. While he might not have played a key role this time around, Bale remains a player with much yet to offer.
The 32-year-old confirmed his departure from Real Madrid in a social media post earlier this month. On Sunday, he led and inspired his beloved Wales to an emotional World Cup qualification – his deflected free-kick proving enough to overcome Ukraine 1-0 in the play-off final.
The result earned the Red Dragons their first World Cup appearance since 1958 and Bale’s future in football hinged on the outcome of this game. Now with WC qualification secured, it is very likely that Bale would opt for a club where he can play regularly and maintain his match fitness.
Cardiff City are understood to be one of the many options that Bale has on his radar. A meeting between the Welsh club and Bale’s representatives is set for later this week.
But why Cardiff?
The Bluebirds are in contention because of Bale’s primary consideration to prepare for the World Cup, and being in close proximity to the national team camp helps that cause.
Bale was born in Cardiff, but has never played club football in Wales. They are looking beyond the World Cup and are factoring in a lot of aspects behind signing the 32-year-old.
First is the marketing appeal of a five-time Champions League winner and the most successful British football player of all time joining the club. Then of course the prospect of leading them back to the Premier League is bound to appeal to the Wales captain.
A lot, however, depends on the scheduled meeting they have this week. If Cardiff are successful in their negotiations, they will be pulling off the biggest signing in Welsh football history.

Bale will remain one of the finest players to don the Spurs jersey in the Premier League era. However, a reunion is not a good idea. Tottenham are better off looking at the future and not the past.
