Transfer news: Tottenham Hotspur to battle Manchester United for David Raum
According to the journalist Jonathan Shrager on Twitter (h/t Manchester Evening News), TSG Hoffenheim’s left-back David Raum has emerged as a summer transfer target for Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United.
He also claims that both Manchester City and Borussia Dortmund are also interested in the player. The highly-sought-after left-back had a phenomenal season at Hoffenheim grabbing three goals and 13 assists for them in the Bundesliga last season.
Tottenham now could face tough competition for his signature as rival clubs have joined them in the race. The Lilywhites are hoping to sign a full-back this summer, as Antonio Conte plans to build a squad that can compete for silverware.
Spurs, Manchester City, Borussia Dortmund, and Manchester United are among the numerous clubs to express an interest in David Raum at various points. MUFC recently made an enquiry, but my impression is that it was only an initial conversation, and certainly no offer has been made

The 24-year-old grabbed the attention of top clubs in Europe following his break-out season at Hoffenheim. He is valued at £34million, by the German outfit.
A potential signing?
Spurs need to sign a full-back and Raum could be a perfect fit. A versatile player, he can also play in the left and right midfield, apart from his natural position of left-back. His versatility will enable him to play in multiple positions in Conte’s 3-4-3.
Currently, Ben Davies and Ryan Sessegnon are the only players capable of playing in the left-back role. Signing Raum would help Ivan Perisic be deployed further upfield, giving him more freedom to contribute to the attack.
But as the above report suggests, it will not be easy for Conte to get the German international’s signature.
However, Tottenham will be aware that they can offer the young man Champion League nights, something that Man United cannot. Hopefully, this will give us a slight edge when it comes to making our move.
