Transfer news: Tottenham have been linked to McGinn in recent few weeks
According to Football Insider (h/t The Yorkshire Post), Aston Villa are willing to listen to offers for midfielder John McGinn. The Scottish midfielder has been linked to Tottenham Hotspur in the recent few weeks.
Villa are now open to listening to offers for the midfielder, with Spurs being interested in him in recent times. Steven Gerrard’s side had a poor time in the league last season, missing out on European football altogether.
The Scottish international has been part of Villa for over four years, racking up 147 appearances for the Claret and Blue scoring 16 goals and providing 23 assists. He is also a regular starter for his country, Scotland.
A central midfielder, he can also play as a defensive midfielder and at times when required in the left midfield. Such qualities in a player will be appreciated by a coach like Antonio Conte.
A good move for both parties?
Conte would love to add more reinforcements to his midfield after having signed Yves Bissouma. Though he will be expected to play in the defensive part of the midfield, McGinn’s ability to drive in the box and arrive at the right place at the right time would help in balancing the midfield.
His experience in the League should not be ignored as he is a very decent midfielder one can hope to have in their team. Currently, Conte has the options of Harry Winks, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Rodrigo Bentancur in the midfield department.
Securing his signature will not be a difficult task for Tottenham. Apart from bringing him into a squad that challenges for silverware, Champions League nights will also be available to the player.
