Transfer news: Chelsea plan to sign Richarlison ahead of rivals Tottenham and Arsenal
Chelsea are set to join the race to sign Everton forward and Tottenham Hotspur target Richarlison as Thomas Tuchel plans to revamp his squad. According to the Daily Mail, Chelsea’s interest in Richarlison is ‘genuine’.
The Brazilian has been tipped to make a move to Tottenham, but now that seems to have changed. Everton are willing to let their star man depart, but are believed to be wanting more than £50 million.
Richarlison was a key figure in the Toffees’ survival, having notched up 10 goals and 5 assists in 30 League games for Everton last season. And now it seems his time at Goodison Park is coming to an end.
Arsenal are another club interested in the Brazilian, but Gabriel Jesus is the top priority for Mikel Arteta.
London headed, but which side?
The 25-year-old forward can play as a left-winger and right-winger, apart from his natural position as a centre-forward. This would make him a smart signing for Antonio Conte. He could fit in Conte’s 3-4-3 setup, being able to play in multiple positions.
However, his signature will neither come easy nor cheap. The former Watford man had indicated last month that he is seeking to leave the club this summer.
Should he arrive, he can replace Steven Bergwijn and Lucas Moura, with the wingers being linked to a move away from Tottenham. A versatile forward, he could also help in increasing the competition among players in the squad.
With Tottenham also being linked with Leeds United winger and Richarlison’s national team-mate, Raphinha, it will be interesting to see how things play out for the club and both the players.
Richarlison will not only bring versatility but also his proven experience in the Premier League. The 25-year-old could also become a possible replacement for Harry Kane in the future or a partner for him in the present.

That, of course, depends on if we manage to sign the Brazilian international but our fans would certainly be hoping that we do. It is about time we get in two specialised centre-forwards in our squad once again.
