Fabrizio Romano: Sampdoria show loan interest in Tottenham Hotspur star Bryan Gil
According to the Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano on Twitter, Sampdoria have expressed their interest in signing Tottenham Hotspur star Bryan Gil on a loan move this summer. He has not been able to break it into Antonio Conte’s plans just yet and could use some time elsewhere to make his mark with the boss.
Gil is set to leave Tottenham temporarily in this summer transfer window to continue his development. He has attracted interest from several clubs as a result, with the Serie A side looking to steal a march on their competition. It is still early stages right now, so the race is still open when it comes to securing his services.
However, the Italian club seem to be stepping up their interest, having met with Spurs Managing Director of Football Fabio Paratici in Milano. Sampdoria have enquired about Gil’s availability on loan, with Olympique Marseille also being in the mix to prise him away ahead of next season.
Gil to head out on loan once again?
It looks like the North London side are looking to part ways with Gil for the time being despite the chances of a spot being freed up in the left-wing position. After all, Steven Bergwijn has been heavily linked with a move to Ajax and could depart N17 this summer.
Despite that possibility, it appears that Conte does not think that he can count on Gil just yet, which has paved the way for the youngster to leave us once again in an attempt to reach the required level. The new interest from Marco Giampaolo’s side and the other parties would certainly help in giving us the freedom to choose the right option for the forward’s growth.
Gil spent the second half of the last campaign on loan at Valencia, but he endured a mixed time with them despite showing early promise. Perhaps, sending the Spaniard to a club that has been lacking stability for quite some time was not the right choice on our part.
It is high time that we find the right club for the 21-year-old, as we did incur a fair bit of expense when it comes to his signing. Spurs brought him in last summer for a deal worth £21.4million that also saw Erik Lamela join Sevilla in cash plus a swap move.

We cannot afford to let that investment go to waste, so the fans would hope to see Conte’s side assess their options before carefully planning the next steps regarding Gil’s future. The attacker is still in the early stages of his career, and with the right guidance, he can fulfil the potential he has shown at Eibar.
