Transfer news: Chris Wilder drops big a hint over Djed Spence moving to Tottenham Hotspur
According to football.london, Middlesbrough manager Chris Wilder has dropped a huge hint regarding the transfer of Tottenham Hotspur target Djed Spence. The right-back has been linked with a move to Spurs since the start of the transfer window.
Now the Middlesbrough coach has hinted that Tottenham are the only club involved in the race for the right-back. That comes as a surprise given the potential Spence has displayed while on loan at Nottingham Forest.
Djed has made it clear that he wants to go play in the Premier League, he’s earned that opportunity which he has done. I’m confident all three parties will get round the table and get this sorted out. If that happens then I’m sure we’ll all walk away happy with the deal.

The England U-21 player is valued at £20 million by Boro. Antonio Conte had declared the right-back a top target, as he looks to strengthen the right-wing-back position at Tottenham. It now seems he might be getting his man.
Spence, who spent last season on loan at Nottingham Forest, helped the side gain promotion to the Premier League via the Championship play-offs. He was an integral part of the squad scoring two goals and assisting five more in 42 Championship appearances for Forest.
Transfer saga nearing its end?
Spurs have been trying to acquire the talented wing-back for some time now and this report will be a welcoming one for the Spurs faithful. Currently, Matt Doherty and Emerson Royal occupy the right wing-back position at the club.
Both the players failed to perform up to the expected level and Conte is hoping to add Spence to increase the depth and competition for the position. Spence can play in the right-midfield too when required apart, adding another dimension to his abilities.
Conte will be the happiest if this deal goes through as he plans an overhaul of the Spurs side to compete for silverware this season. And now it looks a great probability that Spence will be signing for the Lilywhites.

It now remains to be seen what happens. Apart from the Premier League experience that the player wants, Tottenham can also offer Champions League nights to the young defender. The Lilywhites will hope to complete the deal before pre-season, and the Spurs fans will be eager to get the news of his arrival.
