Transfer news: Tottenham Hotspur are keeping tabs on Brighton starlet Zak Sturge
According to the Irish Mirror., Tottenham Hotspur are showing interest ins securing the services of Brighton & Hove Albion left-back Zak Sturge,
Fellow Premier League sides Chelsea and Leeds United are the other teams linked with the teenage defender. Zak rejected a new contract from Brighton last year and is yet to commit his future to the Amex outfit.
He is yet to make a senior appearance for Brighton, although he has been a regular for Brighton’s U-18 side and has also played for the U-23 team. The 18-year-old made a total of 19 appearances for his side and assisted three goals in the process.
The full-back has also played for his country, making six appearances for the England U-18 side. The potential the teenager possesses is clear for all to see.
One for the future
Antonio Conte has been making moves this transfer window having already signed Ivan Perisic, Yves Bissouma and Fraser Forster. They are also linked with players such as Djed Spence and Richarlison.
Sturge would most likely play for the Youth teams at Spurs and could be handed his first senior debut by Conte. He would benefit more at the Spurs academy as compared to Brighton’s academy.
The up-and-coming full-back also has the potential to play for Spurs in the future. Conte could do with such a young and talented defender in his squad, considering Ben Davis is already 29 years old.
In a very unlikely scenario, Conte could potentially add Sturge to the Tottenham senior squad rather than sending him to the youth league. This is a very unlikely scenario to happen as very limited playing time could hamper the player’s development.

He is a player for the future and Tottenham know that. It would be a wise decision to bring Sturge to the Hotspur Way. Tottenham could sign him now with less competition and at a cheap price as compared to when the player starts performing well at the highest level.
