Sunderland waiting on Tottenham Hotspur to make the decision on Jack Clarke transfer
Sunderland are waiting for an answer from Tottenham Hotspur as they attempt to sign winger Jack Clarke, according to The Northern Echo. The Black Cats are interested in the 21-year-old after he impressed on loan at the Stadium of Light last season.
In his six-month spell, the Englishman helped the League One side to promotion and Sunderland want Clarke to be part of their squad as they enter the Championship. The 21-year-old played 20 games for the Wearsiders, being involved in five goals.
Sunderland are pushing for a permanent deal which the North London club is keen on. But before giving the green light, Antonio Conte’s final decision on the squad is being awaited.
Spurs’ pre-season tour to South Korea is set to start in a few days and Sunderland would like to finalise a deal before it. Other teams such as Sheffield United are also hoping to sign the youngster from Tottenham who has only one year left on his Tottenham deal.
With new additions to the squad under the Italian, the North London club have strengthened the attack considerably. Dejan Kulusevski came into the side in January and immediately made an impact. The Swedish national played 20 games, scoring five and assisting eight goals.
Richarlison is another possible option for the new season. The Brazilian striker has made a big-money move to Tottenham and is anticipated to play a significant role next season for Spurs.
The other addition is Ivan Perisic, whose experience and quality in the squad will give Conte another decent option. The Italian has many forwards to choose from, with Harry Kane and Son Heung-min leading the line.
But with the futures of Steven Bergwijn, Bryan Gil and Lucas Moura unknown, it will be interesting to see what happens with Clarke. Lucas has struggled for starts in recent times while Gil was loaned out midway through the last campaign.
It remains to be seen if he has won over Conte during his loan spell in Spain but that is unlikely. He is a bit too inexperienced to become a regular starter for us now.

Next season will have a lot of games to play and the squad needs to be deep to compete. Fans reckon regular game time will be hard to come by for the 21-year-old winger, so a move away is best for his overall development and growth.
