Bryan Gil is expected to be part of the Tottenham Hotspur squad for the pre-season tour of South Korea
Bryan Gil is expected to be given a chance to prove his qualities as the 21-year-old is set to be included in the Tottenham Hotspur squad going on a pre-season tour to South Korea, according to the Evening Standard.
The Spaniard went out on loan in January to Valencia and had a good run for Los Ches. Having signed for Spurs in 2021 in a deal that saw Erik Lamela go the other way, Gil arrived with high expectations in North London.
The youngster was on loan at Eibar and his performances with the Azulgranas prompted Tottenham to sign the 21-year-old. For the side that plays in the Ipurua stadium, Gil made 28 appearances in La Liga, starting in 26 of them. The youngster scored four and assisted three in the league campaign in 2020/21.
In North London, game time has been hard to come by for Gil. The 21-year-old made 20 appearances for Tottenham, but time on the pitch was limited to cameo appearances at the end of matches. The change in manager didn’t help his cause either when Nuno Espirito Santo was sacked. The winger’s situation under Conte remained the same.
After leaving on loan, the Spurs signed Dejan Kulusevski on deadline day. The 22-year-old went straight into the side and made a difference. Fans wanted Gil to emulate the impact the Swedish youngster has had, but it wasn’t to be. Now the Spaniard’s future at the club is uncertain.
But the chance to go and impress during pre-season is an excellent chance for the 21-year-old to at least make his case to Conte. Next season will be a long one and having a deep squad could prove decisive.
Harry Kane and Son Heung-min are crowd favourites and nigh on undroppable. It will be difficult for Gil at this moment in time to displace either player in his search for regular game time.
The additions to the team this summer have been of good quality as well, with Richarlison and Ivan Perisic being signed by Tottenham. The two options have banks of experience. The two are better options than we’ve had in the past seasons on the bench.

Instead of going out on loan once again, the experience of remaining around the squad and training with some of the best players in the world wouldn’t be such a bad idea. Gil still has a long way to go in his career and fans will hope the 21-year-old can fulfil his potential at the N17 itself.
