Danny Murphy trusts Tottenham Hotspur forward Richarlison to outscore Dejan Kulusevski

Speaking to 888 (h/t football.london), former Premier League midfielder Danny Murphy believes Richarlison will score more goals than Dejan Kulusevski next season. The 45-year-old backs the Brazilian to fight for his place in the team.

“He can play on the left or the right and then he’s in the middle, diving for headers like a number nine. I think he’s a great addition for Tottenham.”

Murphy describes the qualities that make him admire Richarlison. The striker’s drive to win and willingness to run around to get the ball are things the former Liverpool midfielder admires. He calls the Brazilian a street footballer and praises the 25-year-old’s mentality.

Richarlison’s feisty character is “a blessing and a curse” in Murphy’s eyes, but the 45-year-old loves that about the Brazilian.

“One potential problem – or rather, it’s a blessing and a curse – is that he does have the tendency to throw his toys out of the pram when he’s not playing and I personally love that in a player.”

“And he doesn’t strike me as the kind of person who will be willing to sit on the bench and watch Son, Kane and Kulusevski play for three important games on the spin.”

Murphy believes Richarlison will score more goals than our Swedish winger next season. The Brazilian’s addition will also ensure that players like Harry Kane and Son Heung-min have a decent backup in the squad.

“I think he’s going to get you more goals than Kulusevski. He might not be as reliable linking up, but he’ll get you goals. And he allows Son or Kane the chance to have a rest.”

Conte has several options to choose from

With the strength in depth the squad currently has under Antonio Conte, it’s difficult to predict the starting XI for next season. What can be predicted is a certain English and South Korean duo playing important roles once again in the upcoming campaign.

Richarlison scored 10 goals for an Everton side fighting a relegation battle in the Premier League last term. It took the Merseyside club the penultimate game of their campaign to ensure survival in the first tier of English football.

Richarlison will have his work cut out getting into the team. Kulusevski joined the club on deadline day in January from Juventus. In his four months at the club until now, the winger has played in a number of roles. In 18 appearances in the Premier League, the 22-year-old scored five goals and assisted another eight for the Lilywhites.

And it’s not just Kulusevski the new Brazilian addition to the squad has to compete with. Ivan Perisic is another accomplished inclusion to the team. The wide player mostly played on the left last season for Inter Milan. Featuring in 48 games for the Nerazzurri, the 33-year-old scored 10 goals and set up nine.

Lucas Moura and Bryan Gil are still at the club and will look to have game time next season. For fans, Kane and Son are shoe-ins in the team and to get into the XI alongside two of our best forwards, Conte has several options to choose from apart from Richarlison.
