Southampton are interested in signing Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Harry Winks
According to Daily Mail, out-of-favour Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Harry Winks has come on the radar of Premier League club, Southampton.
Since his debut in 2014, Winks has been a member of the first team on a regular basis. The youth academy product has been around the club for a while, but he hasn’t been able to consistently make the starting 11.
The 26-year-old Englishman, who has played more than 200 games for the club and is now 26 years old, has yet to become a pinned starter under Antonio Conte. And now, Winks could be on the move, with the Saints interested.
Given that he doesn’t appear to be in Conte’s plans, Winks’ future appears to lie outside of Tottenham. His participation has decreased under the Italian, notably in the second half of the previous campaign.
Harry Winks, Sergio Reguilon, Giovani Lo Celso, and Tanguy Ndombele were recently left out of the Spurs’ preseason trip to South Korea, which could be a sign that the team is encouraging them to find another home for next season.
It is now believed that Southampton wants to sign Harry Winks. The Saints are looking to bolster their option in the midfield and have shifted their focus on the out-of-favour Spurs midfielder whom they might be able to sign without any tussle considering the North Londoners don’t seem to have any intention of keeping him.
At one stage during the previous season, Winks appeared destined to take a significant role under Conte. But despite his early promise, the central midfielder was unable to build on it, and as a result, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Oliver Skipp replaced him as regular starters.
Even though Skipp’s long-term injury seemed to have given him a lifeline, Winks’ situation worsened after Rodrigo Bentancur arrived. But despite the fact that there was little competition for the available places, Winks was unable to become a key starter.
And now with the arrival of Yves Bissouma, it would be even hard for him to find a place in the team. Therefore, it would be best for both parties if they end their relationship this summer. Now as Ralph Hasenhüttl’s team is showing interest in him, he would have a chance to rejuvenate his career with a fresh challenge

Spurs, however, must make sure that they are financially compensated in an appropriate manner. Winks is a very talented midfielder who has a number of years still left in his bag- he can still do a very solid job for a PL club.
