Confirmed: Tottenham attacker leaves club permanently after disappointing three years

Jack Clarke has completed his permanent move to Sunderland after leaving Tottenham Hotspur

According to the official site of Tottenham Hotspur, youngster Jack Clarke has left the North London club to join Sunderland on a four-year contract.

The 21-year-old joined the north Londoners in a £10million deal from Leeds United in July 2019, becoming Spurs’ first signing in 518 days after going through two transfer windows without making a single purchase.

Clarke made four appearances for Tottenham, all of which came in cup games against domestic and international opposition. It is fair to say his time here has been less than impressive.

The winger joined former Spurs players Dennis Cirkin and Alex Prichard at the Stadium of Light on a permanent basis after spending the second part of the previous season on loan at Sunderland, where he helped the Black Cats achieve promotion back to the Championship through the play-offs.

Under Jose Mourinho, Clarke made his Spurs debut as a professional in the Europa League. In January, he joined Stoke City on a temporary basis. Although the player’s loan period had a promising beginning, an injury regrettably shortened his stay in Staffordshire.

Now, Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed that Jack Clarke has completed a permanent transfer to Championship team, Sunderland, after leaving the north London club.

Would the transfer hurt Tottenham in the long run?

With only one year left on his contract, Clarke was forced to make a crucial choice this summer and has decided to end his links with our club. The 21-year-old, who made 20 appearances while on loan at Sunderland, will be hoping that his move to Wearside helps his career get back on track following a trying three years.

Clarke’s time at Tottenham has been a disappointment for both the player and the team. Having worked under several different managers and going on numerous loans may not have helped, but at this point in his career, he is not at the level necessary to compete for a spot in Antonio Conte’s squad.

Under Antonio Conte, Spurs are now assembling a team with the goal of contending for trophies. Under the Italian, the North London team has made some intriguing additions, particularly in the attack.

Harry Kane and Son Heung-min are the team’s mainstays. Additionally, the Italian manager has a wide selection of attacking options as a result.

Clarke is still a young man and requires a little more maturity and wisdom. A player needs to play in order to develop their skills over time. Moving away, therefore, appears to be the best option for both parties.
