Tottenham Hotspur fans react as Spurs officially announce Djed Spence transfer

The wait is over for Tottenham Hotspur fans to see Djed Spence in Spurs colours. The club has now officially announced a move for the English right-back on their Twitter account.

In a saga that seemed to go on forever, Antonio Conte finally has the former Middlesbrough man on his books. According to the Evening Standard, the deal could rise to £19million with add-ons.

That isn’t a very high price to pay for one of the most highly-rated talents in the Championship. He has signed a contract until 2027, with Spurs beating AS Roma, Borussia Dortmund, and Nottingham Forest for his services.

This would certainly raise questions over the futures of Emerson Royal and Matt Doherty at N17. The duo featured under Antonio Conte last season but failed to impress over an extended period of games.

Just 21, Spence still has a long way to go in his playing career – just like his compatriot Ryan Sessegnon, who plays on the other flank for Spurs.

Fans were obviously ecstatic to see the club finally announce the deal officially. He was one of the most impressive young talents in the Championship last season.

A great signing

On loan from Middlesbrough, he helped the Tricky Trees win promotion to the Premier League, playing a starring role in Steve Cooper’s side. He is now taking a step up in his career with a move to Spurs.

It is not to say that two-time European Cup winners Nottingham Forest aren’t a ‘big team’, but it is obvious that Conte’s men are better placed to win the biggest titles going into the next season.
