Tottenham loanee Troy Parrott reveals why he chose Preston North End this summer
Troy Parrott is set to play with Preston North End in the upcoming season after sealing a loan exit from Tottenham Hotspur.
Speaking to the official Preston club website, Parrott revealed why he chose to come to Deepdable. According to him, the decision was a no-brainer.
“I spoke to the manager first of all. I like the sound of how the team wants to play, they want to create a lot of chances which for me is a no brainer really, and obviously the Irish boys here also helps.”
It is evident that Parrott likes the possibility of working under an exciting manager such as Ryan Lowe. It is also in his best interest to leave on a temporary spell in order to get playing time and continue his development.
The 20-year-old, as good as he may be, isn’t quite there yet when it comes to being a regular starter for our team. Harry Kane is untouchable in Antonio Conte’s set-up while Richarlison has been added to the mix this summer.
The Republic of Ireland international is certainly making the right impression at N17 and is arguably on an upward curve. He played in League One last season on loan at MK Dons and is now set to play in the Championship.
His compatriot Sean Maguire will be amongst a handful of forwards vying for playing time at Preston but it certainly won’t be as difficult for Parrott to get playing time there as it would have been with Spurs.
Even manager Ryan Lowe was sold on the idea of having the youngster in his team for the upcoming season. He is a player that the Preston boss was keeping an eye on for a while.
“I watched him play for Ireland against Scotland in the summer when he scored a fantastic goal in the Nations League. His work ethic is fantastic, his hold-up play is very good for the style he is, but ultimately we want Troy to score goals for us.”

He even claimed that the club beat some ‘fantastic competition’ to get him. It is clear that the young striker is rated highly, which becomes even clearer by the fact that he extended his contract at Spurs until 2025 before leaving for his new club.
