Tottenham Hotspur striker Dane Scarlett makes Harry Kane claim after joining Portsmouth on loan
Speaking to his new club’s media team (h/t Football.London), Tottenham Hotspur striker Dane Scarlett revealed the impact Harry Kane is having on his playing style.
The young striker has joined Portsmouth on a season-long loan deal. The 18-year-old striker will play under Danny Crowley in League One from next season.
During his first interview after signing for Pompey, Scarlett revealed how he is learning from Kane. This is the Hotspur Way graduate’s first loan spell of his short professional career so far.
“On and off the pitch I’ve learnt so much, just by watching him (Kane) and on the pitch, everything he does is perfect. Just how he is around the building.”
Scarlett then went on to explain what his playing style is. From his words, it seems like he can be a really competent forward to look at when we get to a stage where we would want to find Harry Kane’s successor.
“I like to get in and around the box. I like to make runs. I’m hungry, I want to win the ball back when we are not in possession and I just love scoring goals. Personally, I just want to kick on and get some minutes in men’s football and enjoy it.”
These are exciting times for the youngster. He started the UEFA Euros U19 final for England against Israel, where they won in extra time.
Now, he is out on his first loan spell and can expect regular minutes for their senior team. Pompey have also loaned in 28-year-old Joe Pigott from Ipswich Town, while 25-year-old Englishman Colby Bishop is expected to be their starter.
