Transfer News: Everton no longer want Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Harry Winks
Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Harry Winks has been linked with a move to Everton this summer, but the Toffees are apparently not interested in signing him anymore.
This is according to the Athletic (Subscription Required) [h/t Football.London], where it is claimed that Everton have apparently backed off from signing the English midfielder.
Rodrigo Bentancur’s arrival has changed things for some of Spurs’ current midfielders. The likes of Oliver Skipp and Winks are finding regular minutes difficult to come by.
Meanwhile, Tanguy Ndombele and Giovani Lo Celso have seemingly lost Antonio Conte’s trust. The signing of Yves Bissouma will make things even harder for any Spurs midfielder who was at the club before the Italian manager’s arrival.
Winks to stay at Spurs?
Pierre Emile-Hojbjerg, of course, is an exception. The Denmark international continues to be an irreplaceable element in Conte’s midfield.
Winks, 26, is arguably in the prime years of his career. If he doesn’t see a future for himself at Spurs, or if the club doesn’t want him, then it is in his best interest to move elsewhere.
He still has a lot of football left to offer and he has shown that he has the level necessary to play regularly in a top-level competition such as the Premier League. Winks has spent his entire professional career on our books.

He hasn’t even had a loan spell and showed at an early age that he can cut it in the first team. If this is the end of the road for him, the Tottenham faithful would only wish the best for the Hemel Hempstead-born midfielder.
