AS Roma ‘happy’ to sell Nicolo Zaniolo after transfer talks with Tottenham Hotspur
According to Foot Mercato (h/t Football.London), AS Roma are now ‘happy to sell’ Nicolo Zaniolo after their latest round of talks with Tottenham Hotspur.
Spurs have been linked with a move to sign the 23-year-old playmaker and it seems like they can get the man before the end of the current window. It is claimed that Roma can only strengthen this summer if more sales are made.
In this regard, they can’ sacrifice’ the former Inter Milan playmaker, who they value at around €50 million. This would come as music to the ears of Tottenham’s board, granted their interest in Zaniolo is real.
It remains to be seen if they are open to meeting Roma’s asking price. However, if the Italian club are ‘happy‘ after talks with Spurs, one would assume that the financial aspect of the deal would not be a very big problem.
A necessary signing?
Roma have already signed Paulo Dybala this summer on a free transfer. That would automatically increase competition for Zaniolo in the starting XI.
It remains to be seen if the versatile Italian international can fit in Antonio Conte’s system, granted we do manage to sign him before the window closes. He can play as a right-winger, a second striker, as well as a number 10.
Spurs don’t really lack any depth on the flanks, having added Ivan Perisic and Dejan Kulusevski to their squad earlier this year. Richarlison would also expect to get regular minutes after signing from Everton this summer.

However, a player like Zaniolo must not be passed upon by the club, granted the deal makes sense financially for the Lilywhites. Hopefully, we see Roma’s number 22 don our colours once the summer window comes to a halt.
