Antonio Conte likes what he saw from Tottenham newboy Richarlison
Speaking in an interview after Tottenham’s loss to Roma, as quoted by Football. London, Tottenham boss Antonio Conte was full of praise for the impact created by new signing Richarlison and went on to say that Spurs need that kind of a player.
The Brazilian joined Spurs from Everton this summer in a move that has received a lot of anticipation. The Brazilian striker is expected to be a vital cog in Antonio Conte’s team next season.
Richarlison played the game against Roma which Tottenham lost 0-1 and was pretty impressive. Conte seemed to like what he saw from Richarlison in his 30-odd minutes cameo despite the loss.
Speaking about Richarlison’s impact, Conte did not hide his admiration and went on to say that Spurs needed a player like the Brazilian
“Richarlison I liked a lot the way he impacted the game. We need this type of player. Richarlison to start the game or go into the game, he can have a big impact. For us it’s very important. We need him behind Sonny, also Kane and Kulusevski.”
Another player Conte seemed to praise was Ivan Perisic. Starting as the left-wing back in the team that Conte named that day, the 33-year-old who is a winger by nature was constantly on the front foot trying to get forward and get involved in attacks.
Speaking about his performance, Conte was happy with what the Croatian showed but seemed to demand much more from a player he has worked with before.
“He has to continue to work because at this moment he’s not the Ivan Perisic I know.”
It is not anything new that a player returning from an injury generally struggles to get up to speed with the game initially. For a player who is 33 years old, it
is only likely to take him more time.Perisic is a solid signing for Spurs. Although Conte is almost exclusively likely to use him as a wing-back, the Croatian always has the ability to adapt to different positions if and when the need arises.

Perisic is a low-risk high reward signing by Conte. He knows how the Croatian plays and will be able to get the best out of him at N17.
