Tottenham News: AC Milan snub Sergio Reguilon and Japhet Tanganga interest for PSG star Abdou Diallo

According to Gianluca di Marzio (h/t the Express), AC Milan have turned their attention away from Tottenham Hotspur’s Sergio Reguilon and Japhet Tanganga.

The two Spurs defenders were apparently on Milan’s radar this summer. However, the Italian giants are now focused on signing Abdou Diallo from Paris Saint-Germain.

The Senegalese centre-back left Borussia Dortmund for Paris in 2019. Since then, he has largely struggled to become a fixed starter and could now leave the club before the end of the window.

This could come as a blow to Spurs if they were looking to offload the Spaniard and the Englishman. Reguilon seems like he isn’t in Conte’s plans ahead of the new season.

What next for the two Spurs full-backs?

The former Real Madrid man could be replaced in the starting XI by newcomer Ivan Perisic, who has experience of working under Conte during their time at Inter Milan. Tanganga, meanwhile, is clearly struggling for first-team minutes here.

He was largely left on the bench by the Italian manager last season and the pattern is expected to continue this time around. Tanganga looks comfortable as a centre-back.

Attack isn’t his strongest suit when he plays as a right-back, as he did at times under Jose Mourinho. Unfortunately for him, Conte likes his full-backs to be attacking, evidenced by his desire to play Lucas Moura in that position during pre-season.

More Tottenham News:

It remains to be seen if any other clubs come in for the two talented defenders. Reguilon is 25 while Tanganga 23 – both being of a good age profile, talented enough to make a spot for themselves in most teams around the continent.
