Antonio Conte decided to stay at Tottenham after two day meeting with Fabio Paratici
According to the Times, Antonio Conte decided to stay at Tottenham Hotspur after a two-day meeting with Spurs sporting director Fabio Paratici at the end of last season when he was promised the signings he wanted.
The Italian tactician had apparently been threatening to leave the club if his demands were not met in the transfer window to build a solid squad for next season and it seems like the club have given him what he wants.
Tottenham have had a very solid transfer window until now, at least with regards to arrivals. Conte has shown his influence on the transfer market to sign players that he thinks will improve the squad.
The Lilywhites signed Ivan Perisic from Inter on a free and Yves Bissouma from Brighton. Richarlison was the marquee signing that Spurs managed to secure from Everton and the Brazilian striker could be a huge player for Conte.
Another piece of smart business, at least on paper was signing Clement Lenglet on loan from Barcelona. The French centre-back could really thrive in a three-man defence and be a solid player for Conte.
Spurs also signed Djed Spence who could be a very exciting prospect for the future, whilst Fraser Forster was signed to provide backup to the evergreen Hugo Lloris. It is clear to see that Tottenham have had a good transfer window.
They have however struggled to ship out the players that Antonio Conte doesn’t count on. Steven Bergwijn has left the club but players like Harry Winks, Sergio Reguilon, Giovani Lo Celso and Tanguy Ndombele are still at the club.
There is still some time left for the transfer window to close and there is every chance that Conte has more players that he wants to bring in. The Italian tactician is going all out in the quest to build a competitive squad for next season.
Anyone who has followed Conte’s managerial career knows that the Italian has the reputation of getting the best out of his players at least for the first couple of seasons. If he can do that with Spurs, they have an exciting season ahead of them.
Spurs have gone trophyless for too long. A serial winner like Conte knows what it takes to win trophies and if he can get the Lilywhites the trophies that they are craving, this transfer window will be a huge success for him.
