Tottenham Hotspur plan to loan back Destiny Udogie if they manage to sign him
According to the Athletic (Subscription Required), Tottenham Hotspur plan to loan back Destiny Udogie if they manage to sign him this summer.
The Udinese full-back has seen interest from Spurs and Brighton & Hove Albion recently. The latter want him as a potential replacement for Marc Cucurella.
Fabio Paratici has apparently tracked Udogie for a long time – ever since he was at Juventus and the player was plying his trade at Hellas Verona. It seems he can finally get his wish this summer.
Spurs completed a similar deal for Pape Matar Sarr last summer, where they signed the young midfielder to loan him back to Metz for the next season. He is now at Spurs after joining Antonio Conte’s side ahead of the new season.
Spurs must hurry to beat Brighton
Udogie made 35 Serie A appearances for I Friulani last season, scoring five goals and providing three assists. He can play as a left-back as well as an advanced left-wing-back, which could suit Conte’s formation.
If Spurs do plan to loan him back after a potential deal is reached, then it is clear the Italian is being brought in as a future prospect. Still just 19, he has a long way to go before he enters his prime years.
It is expected that Ivan Perisic will play down the left-hand side for us this season but he isn’t getting any younger. Spurs would have to replace the Croatian some time or the other, while Sergio Reguilon continues to be linked with an exit this summer.

Ryan Sessegnon is another young left-wing-back at Conte’s disposal while Ben Davies, who played largely as a left-sided centre-half last campaign, can also deputise in that position.
