Tottenham Hotspur want Leandro Paredes in exchange of Japhet Tanganga
Tottenham Hotspur want Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) midfielder Leandro Paredes in exchange for defender Japhet Tanganga, according to Italian outlet Calciomercatoweb (h/t Football.London).
The Englishman has been linked with a move to AC Milan, but a move has stalled as of now. Antonio Conte is now looking to bring in Paredes, who is valued at £17million by the Ligue 1 giants.
PSG don’t have a shortage of quality central midfielders but neither do Spurs. There is no doubting the quality of the 28-year-old Argentina international.
But it remains to be seen where he will play if he does come to N17. The former AS Roma and Zenit St Petersburg man’s status would compel him to want an important role in the first team.
Paredes to Spurs?
Unless Conte plans on playing more than two central midfielders, adding Paredes to the mix would be a selection headache we can do without. We signed Rodrigo Bentancur from Juventus just this January.
The Uruguayan star partnered the ever-reliable and virtually undroppable Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg in midfield. To add to that, we now have Yves Bissouma, who left Brighton & Hove Albion for Spurs this summer.
Oliver Skipp and Harry Winks are two players that would vie for minutes if they stay at the club beyond August. Giovani Lo Celso and Tanguy Ndombele are close to leaving the club while Dele Alli left for Everton during the winter transfer window.

Hence, Paredes will add depth but it will be very hard to imagine having four central midfielders who would all want to be regular starters. If Paredes or Bentancur are happy to rotate for playing time, then this move makes a bit more sense for us.
