Gabby Agbonlahor gives his opinion on when Harry Kane will sign new Tottenham contract
Former Aston Villa striker Gabby Agbonlahor believes that Harry Kane is in no rush to sign a new contract at Tottenham Hotspur. He believes he will wait until midway through the season to arrive at a decision.
This comes after the England captain was linked with a move to Bayern Munich this summer. Bayern boss Julian Nagelsmann had refused to rule out a move for the player. Their club CEO Oliver Khan had admitted that it would be a “dream” to bring the 29-year-old to Munich.
Such comments and news had prompted reports that Spurs were considering offering their vice-captain a new contract. Kane still has two years left in his current contract and a new deal would tie him down further longer.
However, Agbonlahor believes that the striker will be no rush. Speaking to Football Insider (h/t Express), the former Villa man gave his thoughts.
“I don’t think he [Kane] will be in a rush. I think he’ll wait until midway through the season, wait and see how the season is going. He’ll be in no rush to do that, to be honest.”
Daniel Levy would want to keep his star man at the club as long as he can. He will also look to avoid a repeat of the Manchester City transfer saga involving the Englishman. Antonio Conte would also hate to see him depart.
Kane has established himself as one of the best strikers in the world. A phenomenal and clinical finisher, the England captain has broken numerous records in his time at the London club. The 29-year-old has 183 league goals in 283 appearances.
It is not surprising that different clubs want him. He would fit in any team in the world and help them increase their goal tally. But it is very unlikely that he leave this summer. Conte has built an exciting squad for this season and the player knows that.
