Transfer News: Tottenham Hotspur told to keep tabs on Crystal Palace star Marc Guehi

Tottenham Hotspur icon has claimed that the club would be wise to keep tabs on Marc Guehi this year. The England international is one of the brightest young defenders in Premier League football.

And according to Football.London, Tottenham are admirers of the former Chelsea defender. Now, Allen has stated to cheekypunter.com that Guehi is a defender that Spurs could keep tabs on.

“Guehi has done well, he’s had a taste of international football as well. So his progress will be watched by a lot of clubs. Should Spurs need another centre-half, which I don’t think is a necessity at the moment but possibly in the January window if he has a good start to the season.”

Allen believes Spurs do not need to buy another centre-back this summer but would be smart to push for Guehi if the need arises in January. Some Spurs fans would believe otherwise – that centre-back is an area where we can add a world-class name.

Guehi would be future-proofing Spurs’ defence

Clement Lenglet’s addition on a season-long loan spell plugs in a gap but on a temporary basis. One injury to Cristiano Romero or Eric Dier could see Conte having to play Japhet Tanganga and Davinson Sanchez – two players he hesitated to play regularly last season.

Whatsmore, Joe Rodon has left for OGC Nice on loan this summer while Tanganga is linked with an exit as well. The English defender has been linked to AC Milan but no move has materialised as of now.

More Tottenham News:

Guehi started 36 Premier League games for Patrick Vieira’s Palace side last season. He is clearly a very valued member of his squad and it remains to be seen if the Eagles would want to sell him after signing the 21-year-old star just last summer.
