Transfer News: Tottenham Hotspur plan Destiny Udogie medical outside England
The 19-year-old is close to becoming Spurs’ seventh signing of the season. The deal could cost the club around £21million in transfer fees and the player would be loaned back to Udinese for the current season.
Spurs conducted a similar deal for Pape Matar Sarr with Metz last season. If Udogie isn’t going to play for Spurs this season, then it makes sense to conduct the medical at a place that doesn’t require him to fly out of his current club’s base.
Udogie is an Italy U21 international and was a regular for Gabriele Cioffi in the left-back role last season, making 37 appearances across all competitions. Right now, a spot in our starting XI looks very unlikely for him, especially after Ivan Perisic’s arrival on a free transfer from Inter Milan.
Udogie could succeed Perisic in the long run
However, the Croatian is 33 years old and Conte could be on the lookout for a long-term solution in that area. Sergio Reguilon has also been told that he is surplus to requirements at N17.
Ryan Sessegnon, meanwhile, made a big impression for the Lilywhites against Southampton on Saturday. The Englishman started instead of Perisic on the left flank and opened the scoring for Spurs in the 21st minute of the game.
Conte is perhaps already planning for life beyond the former Bayern Munich winger. Udogie and Sessegnon could be the way forward for the club.

Both left-backs like to attack down the left-hand side and considering that Udogie has been personally recommended by Conte, he could be the next big thing in the Premier League – if he was to confirm his move to Spurs in the near future.
