Transfer News: Tottenham Hotspur and Villarreal in ‘separate’ talks for Tanguy Ndombele

Tottenham Hotspur and Villarreal are holding ‘separate’ talks for Tanguy Ndombele amidst ongoing negotiations for Giovani Lo Celso, according to Fabrizio Romano on Twitter.

The two midfielders are clearly not in Antonio Conte’s plans at Spurs. They were left out of the matchday squad in Spurs’ 4-1 win against Southampton on Saturday, August 6.

The Yellow Submarines are believed to be holding separate negotiations for the two central midfielders. However, both deals are said to be a loan move that could become permanent at the end of this season if certain clauses are met.

Ndombele has been, in all honesty, a burden on the club’s wage books ever since he moved to N17 from Olympique de Lyonnais. The 25-year-old has failed to win favour under managers such as Jose Mourinho, Nuno Espirito Santo, and Conte.

Ndombele and Lo Celso on their way out

Whenever he seemed to have his career back on track, fitness issues or uninspired performances meant things returned to square one. He was allowed to leave on loan to Lyon earlier this year before returning to Hotspur Way this summer.

He is believed to be earning around £200,000-a-week at Spurs. Lo Celso, a regular for Lionel Scaloni at Argentine, seems to be out on his way as well.

Conte signing Rodrigo Bentancur and Yves Bissouma in back-to-back transfer windows shows his lack of faith in some of the midfield options he inherited at the club. Hopefully, both Lo Celso and Ndombele are offloaded permanently.

There is no point in delaying the inevitable. If the club don’t have a plan for them under Conte, it is best to part ways and close the book on them once and for all.
