Transfer News: Napoli reach agreement with Tottenham Hotspur to loan Tanguy Ndombele

Fabrizio Romano claims that Napoli have reached an agreement to sign Tottenham Hotspur flop Tanguy Ndombele on a loan deal with an option to buy him next year.

Apparently, Napoli director Cristiano Giuntoli met with Ndombele’s entourage in Paris, France, to seal the deal. And from what Romano says, it seems the 25-year-old has found his next club, at least for the time being.

The Frenchman joined Spurs from Lyon under Mauricio Pochettino in the summer of 2019. He signed a six-year-long contract and cost a club-record transfer fee in the region of £55million.

He has only managed 63 Premier League appearances for the club since then, which is a surprisingly low number for a player who cost us that much. Those who have watched Ndombele play would know about his sleep dribbling abilities.

They would perhaps also recognise how good the player could have been if put in effort off the ball and helped his team out when out of possession. Antonio Conte let him leave on loan for Lyon this January.

The Frenchman was also left out of our squad to face Southampton last weekend where we won 4-1 on the day. Rodrigo Bentancur and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg started in midfield while Yves Bissouma came on as a substitute.

Giovani Lo Celso’s potential exit could leave us short of options in the middle of the park. Oliver Skipp still has time before he could become a top-quality midfielder and his recent injury in training would have done him no favours either.

Harry Winks is also up for sale and if the trio in question leave the club this summer, we could be in a tight spot this season if one of our starting midfielders get injured or suspended.
