Tottenham Hotspurs star Alfie Devine has likely picked up a hamstring injury

Tottenham Under-21 star Alfie Devine looks to have picked up a hamstring injury during his side’s game against Everton. The 18-year-old attacking- midfielder is one of the best players in the Spurs academy.

In an interview published in Football. London, Tottenham Under-21 coach Wayne Burnett gave a rough idea as to what may have happened. Devine’s team-mate Jamie Bowden also picked up an injury, most likely on his ankle.

Alfie Devine has we think picked up a hamstring injury which is a real blow. We’ll have to assess them both tomorrow to see how they are.

Devine was one of the best players on the pitch till his injury. The player was a light in the overall gloomy performance by the young side that saw them lose 2-0 to Everton.

The 18-year-old was rarely under pressure throughout his game. He seemed to find space at ease and looked cut above his teammates throughout the game. It was clear that the player should be playing some senior football.

Spurs planned to keep the 18-year-old for full three seasons at the club to be able to register him as a club-trained player in European competitions in the future. The club is are said to have turned down an offer from Leyton Orient last year to loan the player.

They believed his development was better served at Spurs than elsewhere. The player is understood to be open to a loan move, with the club also feeling the same way. But now his injury could hamper any such movement.

Devine will hope that the injury is nothing serious. If it is it could not only hamper his wishes for a loan move, but also his overall development. The alternative would then be a January loan move for the player, but that is still a long way to come.

It remains to be seen how serious his injury is. The coaches and the player himself will hope it is not something very serious. A very talented player, he has the full potential to start games for Tottenham senior team in the future.

He is a real talent to keep an eye out on. Luckily, hamstring injuries aren’t that serious in terms of long-term impact if you compare them to ligament tears.

Devine has the task to replicate and follow Oliver Skipp and Harry Winks. Both the Englishman have been a part of our senior side in recent times but Antonio Conte’s arrival seems to have changed the situation.
