Tottenham Hotspur transfer target Anthony Gordon wants to leave Everton for Chelsea
Anthony Gordon, who has been linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur this summer, wants to leave Everton in order to join Premier League rivals Chelsea.
This is according to the Telegraph (Subscription Required) [h/t Daily Star], who claim that the 21-year-old wants a move to Stamford Bridge before the end of the current transfer window.
Chelsea came in with a bid of £45million, which was rejected by the Toffees. It remains to be seen if Frank Lampard’s side will be forced to consider offers due to Gordon’s apparent desire of switching from the city of Liverpool to west London.
It’s fine if Spurs watch this from the sidelines. There is clearly no need to splash that much cash on a player that would arguably not get into our starting XI right now.
No Gordon, no problem
There is no doubt that Gordon is talented. He had a breakout season under Lampard before this campaign and was a pivotal player in their bid to ensure survival in the Premier League.
He would also be a smart signing in order to future-proof our attack. However, considering the money Chelsea are bringing to the table and the player’s apparent desire to move to SW6, it is better if Tottenham don’t risk a bidding war here.
Our pockets would be lighter after the club’s recent acquisition of Destiny Udogie from Udinese. The 19-year-old left cost us a fee that could rise to £20million but will head back to Udine ona season-long loan spell.
