Ben Davies reacts to Tottenham Hotspur teammate Harry Kane’s ‘crazy and unbelievable record’

Ben Davies and Harry Kane are two of Tottenham Hotspur’s most trusted players under manager Antonio Conte since the Italian replaced Nuno Espirito Santo at the helm.

While the left-back from Wales has resuscitated his career at Spurs in a three-man backline, things haven’t changed quite that much for Kane. The England international continues to lead the line and score goals for fun in Spurs colours.

Kane, already a living legend at Tottenham, scored his 250th goal for the club when they beat Wolverhampton Wanderers by a 1-0 margin this weekend. Davies has been here for 245 of those, and it was fitting that the club asked him for his reaction to this achievement.

The striker’s brilliance and his consistent goal-scoring record have set the standards so high for him that not a lot of people were overly amazed when he broke Sergio Aguero’s record for most PL goals scored for one club.

The Argentine scored 184 for Man City during his time in England, which Kane eclipsed by one against Wolves. Davies, for one, used the right words to describe this amazing achievement while conversing with the official club media.

“It’s crazy, an unbelievable record and I’m sure he’ll continue for a very long time. It doesn’t look like he’s slowing down any time soon. To have someone as professional as him leading the line, with the quality he has, not just the goals, but his all-round game, he’s a pleasure to play alongside.”

Davies, who arrived at Spurs from Swansea City in 2014, also recognised the effort and skill it takes to score a goal as the one Kane did against Bruno Lage’s side. He was seemingly free in the box and had the task of heading into a partially open net, but the movement to get in that position was sublime.

“His movement is so quick, and he reads the game so well. He’s so clever. He makes a goal like that (against Wolves) look easy but there is a big skill behind it.”

But like Conte himself said, this is a record that Kane would swap for silverware at the club. The two-time Premier League Golden Boot winner is yet to lift a trophy during his time at Spurs but would hope this season is different.

After being linked with a move to Manchester City last summer, who went on to win the league title in the following season, Kane would know what he has given up for staying at Spurs. A trophy – a big one – in the near future can make up for any potential regret he may have, if any.
