Juventus chief Pavel Nedved confirms interest in Tottenham Hotspur transfer target Memphis Depay
Barcelona have agreed to terminate the contract of Tottenham Hotspur, Juventus and Newcastle United transfer target, Memphis Depay this summer, according to BT Sport.
The Netherlands international has been linked with a move to the PL, with Spurs and Saudi-backed Magpies among the clubs interested in his services. However, Juve could turn out to be his destination in the coming days.
Pavel Nedved, I Binaconeri‘s vice president, confirmed his side’s interest in the 28-year-old forward. He said to reporters (h/t BT Sport):
“We must evaluate well, looking at training and injuries; we are considering entering the market. Depay can play with Dusan [Vlahovic] or in his place, I agree. He can play with [Moise] Kean and play as a wing, but he is only one of the names we are evaluating.”
The Netherlands international joined Barca from Lyon last summer and had a decent season, where he scored 12 goals in 28 La Liga appearances. His current contract, as of now, is set to expire in the summer of 2023 (Transfermarkt).
However, if the La Liga outfit is considering letting him go for free after terminating his contract, then there won’t be many better opportunities to sign him in the near future.
At his age, he still has a lot to offer on the field. His prior experience at Manchester United, where he was handed the number 7 shirt, may not have been good.
But it gave him an idea of what Premier League football entails. Antonio Conte could use a versatile forward like him in his attack but it remains to be seen if the former PSV Eindhoven star agrees to a subdued role at Spurs.

It is hard to see where he will fit in our current starting XI. Nedved’s comments above, on the other hand, lay out plans for him to be a starter for manager Max Allegri, which could be an enticing prospect for him.
