Spurs Transfer News: Sampdoria showing interest in Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Winks
Sampdoria are showing interest in signing Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Harry Winks this summer, according to reliable journalist Fabrizio Romano.
The 26-year-old is in the prime years of his career and would want regular playing time. That has proven impossible to attain at Spurs this season under manager Antonio Conte.
The Italian gaffer has trusted Rodrigo Bentancur and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg in the middle of the park and added Yves Bissouma to the mix this summer. That has been followed by a mini-exodus in midfield.
Tanguy Ndombele has joined Napoli on loan while Giovani Lo Celso will play this season at Villarreal. Winks has been told that he has no future at the club and has been banished from any sort of first-team action this season.
However, there hasn’t been much interest in him. However, if Romano is to be believed, then Sampdoria could be a potential suitor that can take him away from N17 for good.
Tomas Rincon, Antonio Metlika and Gonzalo Villar (on loan from AS Roma) are just three of the signings they have made in midfield this summer under manager Marco Giampaolo.
And it remains to be seen if Winks can force his way into their starting XI if he does move there. One would think that he could, given his experience of playing in a top league.

Winks is arguably a midfielder that can hold his own in most teams in world football. However, it remains to be seen if the move is temporary or permanent – the latter being more suitable if Conte and co really don’t want him at N17 in the long run.
