Transfer News: Paul Brown believes Trevoh Chalobah could be tempted to join Tottenham Hotspur
According to Daily Star journalist Paul Brown (h/t GIVEMESPORT), Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah could be tempted to make a move to Tottenham Hotspur.
The Evening Standard had last week reported that Spurs were interested in the 23-year-old centre-back. Italian sides AS Roma and Inter Milan are also interested in the defender.
He played well considering the manager doesn’t have a lot of faith in him and Chelsea have signed Koulibaly and now want another centre back, that has to be quite a kick in the teeth for him, so I’m sure he would be tempted to join another team playing in the Champions League
Chalobah has fears that should the Blues be able to bring in Wesley Fofana, he will be pushed further down the pecking order. Such a move could block his way into establishing himself in Thomas Tuchel’s side.
The 23-year-old showed his talent and potential last season. He managed to make 31 appearances for Chelsea in all competitions, scoring four goals and assisting another two.
There is no doubt that the English centre-back is one of the best young players in his team. While still young and relatively inexperienced, he has the potential to lead the Chelsea back line for years to come. But for that, he needs to play.
Antonio Conte has fine options at the back currently. The arrival of Clement Lenglet has only helped strengthen the backline. It is no doubt that Chalobah would make a very good addition to the defence, but he is really not needed at the moment.
Then there is also the question if Chelsea would be foolish enough to strengthen their direct rivals not only in the league but also in Europe. It is highly unlikely that the Blues will sell their up-and-coming defender. He is likely to be loaned out this season.

But there is no harm in trying. If Conte can manage to convince Chalobah to switch to north London, it would make for an interesting set of headlines. A very talented defender, Tottenham could land their rivals a major blow by landing the youngster.
