Transfer News: Tottenham Hotspur are interested in Adama Traore
According to Express, Tottenham Hotspur are interested in securing the signature of Wolverhampton Wanderers star Adama Traore this summer. Antonio Conte is keen to add another forward to his squad before the transfer window closes.
Spurs were interested in bringing the 26-year-old forward in January but failed in their attempt. The player instead joined Barcelona on a six-month loan. But, Spurs’ interest has not died down and they could now make a move.
Fabio Paratici, Tottenham’s sporting director, is said to be an admirer of the Spanish international. But the deadline day is around the corner and the Italian will need to act fast.
A Barcelona youth academy product, Traore joined Wolves from Middlesbrough in 2018. A right-winger, he can play anywhere in the front three. Such versatility is something Conte looks for in his players.
The 26-year-old is very strongly built and has a terrifying pace. He could become a weapon if deployed in either of the wing-back positions in Conte’s setup. With Bryan Gil poised to return to Spain, Traore could become the ideal replacement for him.
His current contract runs till 2023 (transfermarkt). This could be another boost to the London club as he could potentially be available for a cut-fee price. But time could be a hindrance.
The September 1 deadline is next week. This could cause Wolves to be reluctant to sell their player. A possible replacement could be needed and the club will most likely sell if they can secure one. Conte and co will have to play their cards right for this transfer to happen.
