Bruno Lage: Adama Traore is happy at Wolverhampton Wanderers amid Tottenham Hotspur interest
Adama Traore’s future is still uncertain with less than a week to go before the transfer window closes. And now Wolverhampton Wanderers coach Bruno Lage has made a statement that may cause Tottenham Hotspur a blow.
In a quote published in the Express, the Wolves manager has said that he is happy with Traore at the Molineux. He also says that the 26-year-old is also happy to be at the club.
We haven’t had any offers, and the way he’s training and playing, I don’t see anything different. Now he’s with us, and I’m happy with him – and, I think from the signs he’s giving, that he’s happy with us. But let’s wait until the end of the window.
Spurs have been interested in the Spanish international for some time now. Fabio Paratici is said to be a big fan of the winger and also tried signing him in January, earlier this year.
But Wolves demanded £20 million for the winger, and as such no move could materialise. Instead, the 26-year-old went on a short loan to Barcelona with an option to buy.
He made 11 La Liga appearances for the Catalonia club and managed to get two assists in the process. Now, he is back in England and Tottenham is hoping to land him this time. Antonio Conte wants to replace the outgoing winger Bryan Gil with the 26-year-old.
Traore has entered the final year of his current contract. And it is understood that the winger has little intention to renew terms. This could be the perfect moment for Conte to snap up his target and make him the eighth arrival for the summer.
Spurs could benefit more from this. Due to his contract situation, it is highly likely that if Traore wants to leave, Wolves will have to sell him for a very low price. Unless they are willing to lose the winger for free next summer.
