Antonio Conte asks for patience as Tottenham Hotspur aim to reach the top
Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte has asked for time and patience to be able to take Spurs to the level of other top sides. The Italian asked to be given more transfer windows to shape the team into contenders.
Conte arrived midway through last season as Nuno Espirito Santo failed to convince fans. Since the Italian’s arrival, the North London side have looked like a different side. We also made it to the top four in the previous campaign, pipping rivals Arsenal.
Speaking to the media via The Mirror, Conte feels the upcoming period of fixtures will be the test of the squad’s strength. The Nottingham Forest game was the first of seven fixtures in a 21-day period. The team’s performance during this period will be a true reflection of the side.
“For sure in this moment, this is the moment this is the period the club can understand if we are really, really complete in the squad or maybe we will do better.”
Tottenham fought hard for the three points at the City Ground. The Tricky Trees posed a tough challenge, but Spurs were able to get the result in the end.
The North London side have shown resilience this season. We came from behind in the first game against Southampton. In the Chelsea game, Tottenham rescued a point at the end. Spurs held on to a one-goal lead to get the win over Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Tottenham have made a lot of decent additions to the squad. The squad at Conte’s disposal is stronger than last season. However, the Italian feels there’s still more to do to be able to reach the top.
“For sure compared to last season we are more complete as a squad. You know very well though, that to reach other teams I think we need time, patience and at least two transfer markets to reach the same level.”
Spurs signed some quality players this summer. Ivan Perisic and Richarlison have already proven their worth. In January, we got Rodrigo Bentancur and Dejan Kulusevski. The duo have made an immediate impact and have continued their fine form in the new campaign.
