Sergio Reguilon and Harry Winks close to leaving Tottenham Hotspur on loan
Tottenham Hotspur duo Sergio Reguilon and Harry Winks are close to completing their loan moves to Atletico Madrid and Sampdoria, respectively, according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano on Twitter.
The Spurs left-back is set to undergo his medical in Madrid and sign for the Rojiblancos. Reguilon will sign for Diego Simeone’s side on a season-long loan.
On the other hand, the North London side’s midfielder, Winks, is in Italy. The 26-year-old is about to become a new addition in the Serie A, with Sampdoria taking the England international on a temporary move.
Reguilon and Winks evidently lost their places in Antonio Conte’s side after not being involved during pre-season. The duo haven’t made the matchday squads for the 2022/23 campaign.
The Spaniard arrived at the Spurs in 2020 from Real Madrid. The left-back had an impressive spell with Sevilla, winning the Europa League in the 2019/20 season, compelling the North London side to bid on him.
However, Conte has made a number of additions to the squad, including the arrival of Ivan Perisic. The Italian manager has a history with the Croatian, having managed him at Inter Milan. The 33-year-old arrived to bolster the left-wing-back spot alongside Ryan Sessegnon.
Winks came up through the Tottenham youth ranks and established himself as a first-team regular. However, over the last couple of years, the England international has lost his regular starting spot.
Under Conte, the 26-year-old has mostly been on the bench. Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Rodrigo Bentancur have been the Italian manager’s preferred duo in the middle of the park. Spurs have also added Yves Bissouma to the ranks this summer.
