Transfer News: Tottenham Hotspur sign 17-year-old Will Lankshear for £2million
Tottenham Hotspur have announced the signing of 17-year-old forward Will Lankshear, as confirmed on their official club website.
The youngster has signed a three-year deal and will join up with Spurs’ academy this season itself. He was formerly at Arsenal’s youth academy and joined the Blades in January 2021.
He captained their U18 team to the Professional Development League national title last season. With Troy Parrott and Dane Scarlett both out on loan spells, Lankshear can expect to start games for our youth team.
Parrott is currently playing for Preston North End in the Championship, while Scarlett earned himself a loan move to Portsmouth this season. As for Lankshear, he comes as an unknown quantity.
In Antonio Conte, he has a manager that will give him the chance if he continues to impress at the youth level. But first, his focus should be on impressing Dean Rastrick and the rest of the academy staff.
The fee being paid for him isn’t peanuts as well, and Spurs seem confident in the youngster. Spurs have already signed a senior striker for their team this season.
Richarlison arrived from Everton but he is yet to start a game for Spurs so far. He was most recently seen in our 1-1 draw against West Ham United earlier today.
Spurs don’t have a need for a striker right now, but they would be hoping and praying that there is another Harry Kane to come out of the academy once the 29-year-old England icon leaves the club in the future – whenever that may be.

Hopefully, Lankshear can be that, but there is a long, long way to go for that.
