Tottenham Hotspur coach says it is easier to explain his football to Clement Lenglet
Tottenham Hotspur defender Clement Lenglet made his full debut against Fulham since joining the club this summer. And Antonio Conte has said that he finds it easier to explain to the 27-year-old his football.
In an interview quoted by Football. London (h/t Hitc), the Italian coach explained the reasons that made it easier for him to explain his football to the centre-back.
I think Lenglet showed to be a really good player with personality, with quality. When you sign a player from Barcelona for sure he arrives with a big background and for me it’s easier to explain the football to him.
Lenglet arrived from Barcelona on a season-long deal this summer. He came off the bench in the first game against Southampton, but five games he made his full debut.
The centre-back started the game with Eric Dier and Cristian Romero at the back. The French international was impressive on his debut, hardly making any mistakes.
It is not surprising that the coach finds it easier to talk to the defender. He used to play for a big club like Barcelona. And whatever people may say, it does take some talent and quality to be considered by such a big club.
Just 27, the centre-back is at the top of his game currently. An experienced defender, his experience could play a huge role for Spurs in the long season ahead.
Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Harry Kane scored as Spurs dominated Fulham in their previous game. Conte’s men continue their unbeaten start to the season and are currently third on the table with 14 points.
