Harry Kane sends message to Richarlison after brace in Tottenham Hotspur’s win vs Marseille
Richarlison was handed his second successive start in a row for Tottenham Hotspur and the Brazil international did not disappoint.
He scored both goals in Spurs’ 2-0 win against Olympique de Marseille in the Group D match in north London today. Chancel Mbemba’s red card early on in the second half turned things in Tottenham’s favour.
However, they still failed to score for nearly half an hour despite being a man up. Richarlison stepped up to the plate and scored in the 76th and 81st minutes to hand Spurs all three points on a glorious night at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
As seen in the tweet above, Harry Kane posted a photo with Spurs’ man of the match and congratulated him for his first two goals at the club.
Healthy competition
A cross from Ivan Perisic found Richarlison in the box, who headed the ball in to open the scoring 14 minutes from time. Five minutes later, a cross from Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg from a similar region ended up in the back of the net via a header from the former Everton man as well.
It was a perfect night for Spurs and Richarlison who are now in second place in Group D. Sporting CP beat Eintracht Frankfurt in their group game and lead on goal difference.
Dejan Kulusevski and Richarlison are the two players who are vying for regular starts alongside Harry Kane and Son Heung-min, and both of them are in top form.
This is a selection headache that manager Antonio Conte would love to have. Spurs play against Manchester City at the Etihad this weekend in the Premier League.
