Tottenham star Eric Dier credits Antonio Conte for the best form of his career

Tottenham Hotspur defender Eric Dier has said that he is playing the best football of his career under Antonio Conte. His form has put him in contention to return to the England squad this month.

Dier is under consideration to return to Gareth Southgate’s squad for the Nations League matches against Italy and Germany. These will be the last games for the national team before the World Cup in November.

The 28-year-old last played for his country in 2020 and since then has not featured for the side. It was really surprising that the defender was dropped by Southgate earlier this year.

But now the defender has started the season in great form and has credited his coach for such form. In an interview with Standard Sport, the 28-year-old gave credit to his gaffer.

I just have to play as well as I can for Tottenham. That’s the only thing in my control. Since he [Conte] arrived I have improved a lot and have worked hard to try to improve as much as possible and I feel very good.

Dier has started all six league games this season and even scored on the opening day against Southampton. The centre-back has been phenomenal in all the games and there have been no complaints about his performance whatsoever.

It would only make sense for the defender to get a call-up to the national team. The three Lions have struggled in the Nations League this year and the 28-year-old could make a difference for them.

Tottenham host French side Marseille this Wednesday for their opening Champions League game. The Lilywhites have returned to the competition for the first time since March 2020. Dier is in contention to start the game.

Fans will be very happy with the performance the 28-year-old has displayed so far. They will hope that defender continues with such form throughout the season.
