Tottenham Hotspur loanee Harry Winks yet to play for Sampdoria yet to play due to injury

According to Italian outlet Calciomercato (h/t Football.London), Tottenham Hotspur loanee Harry Winks is yet to play for Sampdoria due to an ankle injury.

The English midfielder once started the UEFA Champions League final for Spurs in 2019 under manager Mauricio Pochettino. Things have gone rather downhill since then, especially this year.

The signing of Rodrigo Bentancur from Juventus in the January transfer window meant less playing time for Winks. This summer, the club sent him out on a loan spell to Sampdoria.

However, the 26-year-old is yet to play a single minute under his new manager Marco Giampaolo. He had completed his loan move to the Serie A side before their Serie A draw against Lazio on August 31.

No debut for Winks

He similarly missed out on the clash against Hellas Verona, where I Blucerchiati lost 2-1. Now, he has been left out of the squad against AC Milan for the league game later tonight.

It has been claimed that an ankle injury has been the reason behind the midfielder being rested so far, and in order to not take a risk, he has been left out of the matchday squad for the clash against I Rossoneri.

Giovani Lo Celso and Tanguy Ndombele have also joined Villarreal and Napoli on loan spells, respectively. The former has scored once in five games for the Yellow Submarine this season, while the latter has made four Serie A appearances so far for manager Luciano Spalletti.

Winks would hope that he can make his debut for his new club later this month when they take on Spezia on Saturday, September 17. Sampdoria are currently 18th in the league with two points from five league games.
