Spurs Transfer News: Bayern Munich chief Hasan Salihamidzic denies contact with Tottenham star Harry Kane
Speaking to German outlet Sport1 (h/t Evening Standard), Bayern Munich sporting directorr Hasan Salihamidzic denied claims that the club are in talks with Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane.
The striker is in the final year of his contract at Spurs and has been touted as a long-term replacement for Robert Lewandowski. The Poland international left the Bavarians for Barcelona this summer.
Kane is believed to be open to signing a new contract at N17 but given his talent, it is not a surprise to see him being linked with a top team like Bayern. The 29-year-old is said to be excited by Antonio Conte’s project at Spurs.
Salihamidzic has now come out and denied claims that the Bundesliga giants are in talks with Kane. The 45-year-old said:
“I haven’t spoken to anyone at Harry Kane’s camp. We have faith in our players. Serge [Gnabry], Sadio [Mane], [Eric Maxim] Choupu-Moting and also [Mathys] Tel.”
Good news for Spurs
Lewandowski’s absence would have surely left a big void to fill in attack. The director admitted that his team were in the market for a replacement but did not find anyone better than the options they current possessed.
“These are guys who should grow into it. We have eight players for four positions. In the end you have to see what the market has to offer and we didn’t find anyone is better than what was already in our squad.”
It is important for Spurs to tie down Kane on a long-term deal. He will turn 30 next year but he has evidently shown no signs of slowing down – and has in fact added the facet of being a playmaker to his playing style in recent seasons.
This led to him winning the Playmaker Award alongside the Premier League Golden Boot in the 2020/21 season. Richarlison is the talk of the town considering he is the club’s new signing and Son Heung-min also grabs headlines on a regular basis.

But most Spurs fans will agree that Kane continues to be the fulcrum of Spurs attack and is equally important to this team as he was to the Spurs teams managed by the likes of Tim Sherwood, Mauricio Pochettino, and Jose Mourinho among others.
