Spurs News: Tottenham Hotspur to battle clubs including PSG, Real Madrid for Endrick transfer

Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle United, and Manchester United have apparently joined Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) and Real Madrid in the race to sign Palmeiras wonderkid Endrick.

This is according to Brazilian journalist Jorge Nicola (h/t Sun), who states that Real Madrid seem like the favourites to land the 16-year-old forward. Endrick is making waves in South American football and has scored five goals in four Brazil U21 matches already.

Tottenham striker Harry Kane has been linked with a move to Bayern Munich but it is a long shot to imagine Endrick being his instant replacement – if he does sign for us. The teenager is, after all, 13 years younger than the 29-year-old England international.

However, he is very highly rated in his home country and apparently already has a release clause in the region of £35million at his current club.

He signed a pro contract with the Brazilian club after turning 16 earlier this year. His current deal, as a result, will run until the summer of 2025.

Spurs among big teams after Palmeiras prodigy

This year, he has six goals in seven Copinha games. He is yet to make a senior competitive appearance for Palmeiras but if he continues to develop at this rate, that time won’t be far away.

Madrid would be the obvious threat for all potential suitors here. Nicola thinks they are seemingly the favourites to sign him, having scouted and purchased Brazilian teenage talents such as Vinicius Jr and Rodrygo Goes in the past.

In December 2020, a report from the Independent relayed the FA’s rules which banned Premier League and EFL Clubs from signing foreign players until they were 18 years old. It remains to be seen if that causes a problem in the English team’s pursuit of the young striker.

More Tottenham News:

Spurs already have young, upcoming strikers in the form of Troy Parrott and Dane Scarlett in their academy, with the former on loan at Preston North End and the latter with Portsmouth until the end of the season.
