Mario Gotze ruled out for Eintracht Frankfurt vs Tottenham Hotspur Champions League tie due to ankle injury
Speaking to German outlet Bild (h/t Evening Standard), Eintracht Frankfurt manager Oliver Glasner has confirmed that playmaker Mario Gotze will miss the UEFA Champions League clash against Tottenham Hotspur tomorrow night.
The German star was the hero for his country at the FIFA World Cup in 2014 when he scored the goal that won them the final against Argentina in extra time. However, his career has had its ups and downs since then.
He left Borussia Dortmund to join PSV Eindhoven in the summer of 2022 and joined Frankfurt during the latest transfer window after two years at the Philips Stadion.
He has scored twice in 12 appearances for Die Adler this season and is one of their most creative players going forward. Gotze is believed to have suffered an ankle injury in training, and Glasner has ruled him out for the trip to north London tomorrow.
“Mario will be out, he still has too much pain in his ankle. He can’t be at 100 percent.”
Jesper Lindstrom and Tottenham-linked Daichi Kamada are two players of a similar profile to that of Gotze. Spurs are not without injury headaches of their own.
Brazilian attacker Lucas Moura, left-back-turned-centre-half Ben Davies, and in-form Dejan Kulusevski are all doubts going into the game against the 2022 UEFA Europa League winners.
This is a game we cannot take lightly. A loss here is unfathomable, especially after our 2-0 loss against Sporting CP. Gotze
or not, Glasner knows his team is good enough to make it out of this group.More Tottenham News:

A point wouldn’t be the end of the world for the German club since this is an away game for them and they are level with us on three points after two games. For us, winning at home is imperative if we want to be in a strong position by matchday 6.
