Harry Kane offers update after injury scare in Tottenham Hotspur’s 1-0 win vs Brighton

Harry Kane scored the only goal of the game against Brighton and Hove Albion at the Amex earlier tonight but handed fans a big injury scare in the dying embers of the game.

The England international was caught on his ankle by Solly March in the final few minutes of the match and hobbled off the pitch to receive treatment. Manager Antonio Conte did the right thing to sub him off immediately in place of Oliver Skipp.

However, Kane has now alleviated the fear that Spurs fans would have had after seeing him go down in the fashion that he did. Speaking to Sky Sports after the full-time whistle (h/t Evening Standard), the striker said:

“It’s just a knock I think. He’s obviously gone full power for the shot there and I’ve just managed to get in front of him. A sore one but they are definitely worth it when you win the game for sure.”

Kane was the reason why we walked away from the south Coast back to London with all three points. A left-footed shot from Son Heung-min in the 22nd minute was instinctively headed into the net by Kane.

The South Korea international would perhaps now claim that he intended to find Kane with it… Nevertheless, it was a job well done. A shift to a 3-5-2 formation saw us bulk up in central midfield with the addition of Yves Bissouma.

Whether Conte still sticks with this system when Lucas Moura and Dejan Kulusevski are match-fit remains to be seen. Spurs’ next task is a tricky game against Eintracht Frankfurt at home this week.

We need to win our home games if we aspire to qualify from the Champions League group stage. Kane seems to be looking forward to the challenge. He added in his interview:

“I’m feeling good, a lot of games coming thick and fast. We’ve got the Champions League again in midweek, we’ve got to recover well and the whole squad’s got to be ready to play and keep battling out the games.”

More Tottenham News:

Kane is in superb form for us this season. This was the fourth game running that he has scored in the league, and he has now netted in seven of our nine Premier League games in total. Spurs do just fine when our No. 10 is in this kind of form.
