Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane could be tempted by Bayern Munich transfer offer

According to German football journalist Florian Plettenberg (h/t the Shields Gazette), Harry Kane ‘could’ be tempted by the chance to join Bayern Munich in the near future due to their pedigree of winning trophies.

The German club have won the top-division title 32 times – which includes 31 Bundesliga titles and one league trophy before the inception of the Bundesliga. They have also dominated domestic competitions in Germany for the past several decades.

It’s not wrong to say that their fans expect their team to win at least one trophy each season – something that they have managed to do in every campaign since the trophyless 2011-12 season.

Plettenberg thus says that this opportunity of success at Bayern could temp Kane. The England international has not won a single title with us since his professional debut.

The club itself is in the midst of a trophy drought that has lasted for over 14 years now. Kane’s situation is interesting – his contract expires in the summer of 2024 (Transfermarkt).

One can imagine that a player of his quality would be someone Spurs would want to keep on board for as long as they can. Now, he will have to decide what he wants for himself.

A potential renewal with the Lilywhites could mean he sees out the remaining peak years of his career with us. Otherwise, he could have the chance to take the ‘easy’ way out and rack up a few titles to fill his cabinet before he does hang his boots.

Hopefully, manager Antonio Conte can give him that success this season itself. A couple of trophies between now and the end of the 2023-24 season could perhaps increase our chances of keeping the Englishman for a longer duration.
