Club News: Gabby Agbonlahor mocks Tottenham Hotspur following Manchester United defeat

Former Aston Villa striker Gabby Agbonlahor has mocked Tottenham Hotspur after their 2-0 defeat against Manchester United last night.

Antonio Conte’s side were simply outplayed by Erik ten Hag’s side from the first minute. The north London club did not look threatening at all against the Red Devils.

Now, speaking on talkSPORT (h/t Express), the former Villa forward has slammed Spurs as ‘flat-track bullies’ and has claimed that they get ‘battered’ if they play anyone ‘decent’.

“Spurs for me are flat-track bullies. They got battered by Chelsea, nicked a point, they got battered by Arsenal – battered. They got battered by Manchester United last night. And in their next three games they’ve got Liverpool and Newcastle. So this shows what Spurs are about, these two games for me. It’s okay beating the teams that Spurs are meant to beat. [But] they play anyone decent and they get battered.”

It is not surprising to hear and read such criticism against Tottenham. Conte’s side has been very poor against the ‘top six’ Premier League teams this season.

They drew 2-2 against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in August. This match was marred by controversy and Spurs were lucky to walk out with a point.

However, things went worse when they were defeated 3-1 by Arsenal at the Emirates earlier this month and now 2-0 by United at Old Trafford. It was quite similar with both these teams.

Spurs sat back and wanted to counter-attack with the long ball due to the high line. Against both the opponents the Italian manager tried a similar thing and got the same result back.

More Tottenham News:

Fans will hope for a better result this Sunday. The Lilywhites will welcome a tricky Newcastle United, but Conte will hope for three points to remain in the title race.
