Harry Kane believes Tottenham Hotspur’s Champions League qualification will be a major boost before the World Cup
Tottenham Hotspur forward and England international captain Harry Kane believes his side’s qualification to the last 16 of the Champions League will be a major boost to him ahead of the World Cup later this month.
Spurs came back from 1-0 down in the first half to win the game 2-1, courtesy of goals from Clement Lenglet and a late winner deep in injury time from Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg. This wins Spurs go through to the next round as leaders from their group.
Kane who set up Hojbjerg for the goal believes it was an important win before the World Cup. After the game, this is what he had to say as quoted in The Sun.
“It was really important just before the World Cup. If we’d have gone out, it would have been a real sting because you know you’re coming back from the World Cup and playing Europa League and it’s just not the same feeling. So that was really vital.”

The World Cup is due to start later this month. England are one of the favourites to win the competition later in Qatar and Kane will hope to lead his country to the ultimate silverware in football. But before that, he has three important games with Tottenham.
Spurs will host Liverpool this Sunday and will travel to face Nottingham Forest next Wednesday for their EFL Cup Third Round fixture. They will finish their first half of the season with playing host to Leeds United next Saturday.
